The Mean Bean was born from a simple idea: good coffee brings people together. What started as a family dream on a dusty stretch outside Williams turned into a cozy little café built on hard work, faith, and the tradition of serving folks well.
We source our beans from Café Moto in San Diego—roasted with old-school craftsmanship and sharp sustainability practices—because quality matters and shortcuts never taste as good.
Today, The Mean Bean sits inside K’s General Store as a warm stop for travelers, locals, and families looking to slow down, breathe a little, and enjoy something made with care. From early-morning drip to your favorite latte, we pour every cup with pride, purpose, and a whole lot of heart.
Welcome to The Mean Bean—where the coffee’s bold, the community’s real, and everyone’s family once they walk through the door.
At The Mean Bean, our baristas don’t just make coffee — they’re trained to understand it. Every team member goes through hands-on espresso training and learns the best practices that keep our quality consistent, our machines cared for, and every cup tasting exactly the way it should.
We believe great coffee starts with great people, and our crew takes pride in serving every drink with skill, heart, and a whole lot of mean bean energy.
Our Location
The Mean Bean sits inside K’s General Store off highways 180 and 64, just outside Williams, Arizona. Heading North to the South Rim we are nestled at the junction of 180/64. We built this spot for travelers, families, and locals who want a great cup of coffee in a place that still feels like a small-town stop. With wide-open views, easy parking, and a welcoming vibe, our location is the perfect place to slow down, refuel, and enjoy a taste of Northern Arizona hospitality.

☕ The Coffee at The Mean Bean
At The Mean Bean, we don’t play games with our coffee—every cup needs to hit like a warm sunrise over the Williams prairie. That’s why we source our beans from Café Moto in San Diego, a roastery that’s been doing things the right way long before “craft coffee” became a hashtag.
Café Moto roasts in small, precise batches using a combination of tradition and tech—think old-school drum roasters paired with modern temperature controls—so every roast lands with consistent flavor, depth, and that velvety finish people remember. No burnt bitterness. No guesswork. Just clean, honest coffee.
But the flavor isn’t the only thing worth bragging about. Café Moto is all-in on sustainable, responsible sourcing. They work directly with family farms around the world, paying fair prices and supporting long-term relationships that keep coffee-growing communities thriving. Their facilities run on solar power, their packaging is earth-friendly, and they’re constantly pushing to reduce waste—basically the opposite of every giant corporation that’s ever microwaved its ethics.
So, when folks sip a latte, cappuccino, or straight-up drip at The Mean Bean, they’re tasting more than coffee. They’re tasting craftsmanship, integrity, and a roast that honors the hands that grew it.
Strong. Smooth. Sustainable.
That’s the Mean Bean way.
